Meru Governor Peter Munya has expressed doubt that the miraa task force will resuscitate the industry. The governor said the task force should find workable solutions to the challenges troubling miraa production, marketing and sale. Speaking when he joined Muslims for Eid prayers at Maua Stadium yesterday, Mr Munya said the miraa task force was made up of friends and relatives of a few political leaders from the county, and did not represent miraa farmers. "We are expecting results because miraa farmers are suffering," Munya said. Somali traders who have leased huge tracts of land to grow miraa and transport it to Mogadishu and other areas said they would have been happier if one of them had been named in the task force.
