The report, acquired by the Ottawa Citizen’s Kathryn May, is exactly what Justin Trudeau’s Liberals didn’t want to hear. Maybe the task force was out of town when Canadians threw a national hissy fit last year over a plan to replace door-to-door service with more community mailboxes. Additional savings of $177 million could come from converting 800 rural post offices into franchise outlets. In an interview with May, task force chairwoman Françoise Bertrand suggested Canadians would be open to changes when they realized the extent of the financial crisis. Also clear, according to surveys commissioned by the task force, is that Canadians live in a la-la land of unreality when it comes to mail service.
