KQ, expatriates to gain from Botswana deals

Botswana President Ian Khama agreed to Uhuru’s request to review the agreement, State House said, in a deal which could help KQ boost its business by flying more frequently and to more destinations in Botswana. Meanwhile, during the two presidents’ meeting in Botswana, the Southern Africa nation said it will review its restrictive migrant laws for Kenyans’ work permits. Uhuru held a meeting with Kenyans living in Gaberone, Botswana on Tuesday evening and assured them that their work permits issue will be sorted out. Kenya has for many decades trained Botswana government officials in public administration and many Botswana nationals in other fields including railway engineering, agriculture, journalism and defence among others. “I have already met President Khama and he has promised to solve the problem as soon as possible,” Uhuru told Kenyan professionals and businessmen at a reception held in the Travel Lodge Conference Centre in Gaborone.
