Personally, I had no concerns about Kiwi Muslims reacting violently, because I knew the mosque community had a strong source of solace: their faith. “In our Muslim faith we say… we are able to forgive. That’s what I’d say.”My question to Mr Fry is this: wouldn’t faith help the family of a child with bone cancer endure their pain? Don’t we need to have faith precisely because our world is “full of injustice and pain”? Maybe it really is time for us to rethink our attitudes towards faith and its role in modern society.
