The Interior Ministry says it has deported a group of Bangladeshi nationals as part of its national programme to repatriate people in the country without legal status. The ministry said the deportations were carried out through Mitiga International Airport after the completion of legal procedures and coordination with relevant authorities. Officials said the programme aims to curb migrant flows through Libya, improve border control and support domestic security and stability. The ministry described the policy as part of a broader approach combining law enforcement, regulation of foreign residents and cooperation with countries of origin. Libya remains a major transit route for migrants attempting to reach Europe across the Mediterranean, making migration management one of the country’s most persistent challenges.
