The Criminal Court has convicted an employee of the Al-Maamoura Civil Registry Office on charges of forging family records. The Public Prosecution stated that the forgery enabled a foreign national to unlawfully obtain thirteen national identification numbers, thereby granting access to rights derived from Libyan citizenship. In its most recent session, the South Tripoli Court of Appeal upheld the conviction, sentencing the defendant to three years in prison and ordering the recovery of the proceeds obtained from the crime.
