Following the latest Sh3.7 billion tender fraud at Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (Kemsa), President William Ruto issued a harsh warning to government personnel. However, the opposition has insisted that the backstops with the Cabinet secretaries who hold the biggest responsibilities in their ministries. According to insiders, the President was enraged by intelligence allegations that a family member of a key Cabinet member was engaged in the botched malaria net purchase supported by the Global Fund. PS Peter Tum (Medical Services) of the Ministry of Health was transferred to Sports, while Correctional Services PS Mburu was succeeded as Public Health PS by Mary Muthoni. Tum was succeeded at the top of MOH's Medical Services docket by Harry Kimtai, the PS for Livestock Development.
