But in 2013, Dr Susan Mbinya Musyoka tried her hand in politics when she ran for the Machakos County Women Representative position on a Wiper Party ticket. Dr Musyoka would immediately become a key member of the former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka's inner circle in Wiper Party. But to the surprise of many, Dr Musyoka suffered a shock and humiliating defeat during the Wiper Party nominations after being floored by little-known Joyce Kamene. During the 2022 general election, Dr Musyoka opted not to run for any elective position.
