Wilshere had been hoping to relaunch his international career in the Amsterdam Arena against Ronald Koeman’s side, having won the last of his 34 caps in the defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016. The Arsenal midfielder had trained this week with the rest of Gareth Southgate’s squad, but the injury picked up on his return to his club meant he did not board the flight with the rest of the team.
