In Mexico, a mass grave of 240 people dissolved in acid said to be the victims of hitman dubbed Stew Maker

The killer is widely believed to be a hitman known as “The Stew Maker,” who dissolved victims in barrels of acid. The Federal Attorney General’s Office, which is analyzing the remains, estimates the excavation may yield to up to 650 victims, Flores said. Santiago Meza Lopez was arrested in 2009 for disappearing bodies for the Sinaloa Drug Cartel, a multi-billion dollar international crime syndicate. Meza Lopez reportedly said he worked for $800 a week and confessed to dissolving at least 300 people in lye. The Sinaloa Drug Cartel, which formed in the mid-80s, is Mexico’s biggest criminal organization.
