A team from the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) visited Sitakunda and examined people afflicted with a mysterious disease on Saturday. ASM Alamgir, a senior scientist with the IEDCR told the Bangla Tribune: “We have collected samples from the affected people. Also Read- Unidentified disease in Sitakunda: 12 more with similar symptoms hospitalisedPreviously on July 13, IEDCR Chief Scientist Dr Faruq Ahmed Bhuiyan confirmed to the press that nine children had died due to a mysterious contagious disease. The children belonged to the Tripura tribe living in the remote hilly areas of Sitakunda in Chittagong. However, doctors have yet been unable to determine the exact nature of the disease.
