The ICRC says the event from May 8 to May 11 is an opportunity to discuss contemporary challenges to international humanitarian law, and empower academics and professionals to help identify those challenges. Styled “Humanity First”, the Advanced International Humanitarian Law South Asian Academics Training (AISAAT) will also guide humanitarians in finding new innovative answers to be more relevant for the vulnerable people and communities they assist. In Bangladesh, the ICRC works to protect and assist people affected by other situation of violence, including politically motivated and inter-communal violence. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening knowledge of international humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles.
