The 2018 Malaysia Human Rights Report by civil rights group Suaram documents the human rights situation in the country last year. When the nation became independent of the British colonial power in 1957, did we really have a social contract that contained elements of racial discrimination? These laws that allow detention without trial violate basic human rights and should be expeditiously abolished. Such backtracking on Pakatan’s GE14 manifesto is totally unethical and a perversion of human rights. The 2018 Malaysia Human Rights Report can be downloaded at https://www.suaram.net
