High Court questions Supreme Court letter to stop ACC investigating ex-judge Abedin

On Mar 2 this year, the ACC said in a letter to the Supreme Court that Appellate Division’s Justice Abedin had allegedly sent money abroad illegally. In reply to the ACC letter on Apr 28, the Supreme Court said it thought it would not be appropriate for the ACC to take any action against a former judge. The High Court asked Supreme Court registrar general, additional registrar, ACC chairman and Justice Abedin to respond to the rule within 10 days. Amid discussions among ruling Awami League leaders over the letter, Justice Abedin secured anticipatory bail from the High Court on July 10. "He has not only used the name of the Supreme Court but also used the court's pad, though it was his own decision," Maria added.
