Robi took the issue to the High Court on Tuesday, when Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir halted the NBR’s order for banks. “A writ petition was filed challenging the legality of NBR’s letter to banks instructing a freeze. In the rule, the court asked the NBR why Monday’s order to freeze Robi’s bank accounts will not be declared to have been issued beyond the board’s legal authority, and beyond the Constitution. Deputy Attorney General SM Moniruzzaman, who represented the State at the hearing, said they would challenge the High Court order in the Appellate Division. Robi, in a media statement released after the High Court halted the freeze on its bank accounts, said its bank accounts were unfrozen following the stay order.
