Following the completion of post-mortem analysis, Dubai police stated that the death of Indian actress Sridevi occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following a loss of consciousness. The Dubai police handed over the release letters for her remains to the Indian consulate and to her family for embalming on the same day. The star of such classics as Mr India, Chandni, ChaalBaaz and Sadma, Sridevi worked in the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages. She was considered one of the very few Indian female superstars capable of huge box-office success without the support of a male hero. Sridevi’s most memorable onscreen pairing was with her real-life brother-in-law Anil Kapoor, while her most successful films were produced by husband Boney Kapoor.
