HEAVY rains will continue in Metro Manila and other areas of Luzon as Tropical Depression “Ester” (international name: Gaemi) continues to trigger the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the state-run weather bureau said on Friday afternoon. Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Quezon, Bataan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Batangas and Laguna will have heavy rains with lightning and strong winds brought by monsoon rains, which will persist within the next three hours. Pagasa terminated the heavy rainfall warning previously raised over Zambales and Bataan. Visayas, Mindanao, and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers because of localized thunderstorms. The tropical depression was expected to continue to move east-northeast at 25 kph and won’t make landfall as it crosses the border of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Pagasa said.
