PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has seized 12,441 cigarette packs worth more than RM71,000 from 173 premises for selling them below the minimum price. Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the operation was conducted nationwide on Oct 30 and 31. "Based on the information we have received, we found that 173 premises sold cigarette packs below the minimum price of RM10. Under the Regulation 8C (1) of the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004, the minimum price of a 20-stick pack of cigarettes is set at RM10. Dr Noor Hisham said the ministry viewed the issue seriously and that it would continue to conduct enforcement operations.
