Hamilton swimmers will be back in the fast (and slow) lanes at Waterworld from Monday. Avid aquamen and women in Hamilton will be able to take the plunge again from Monday morning, when Waterworld Te Rapa re-opens after a two-week shutdown. The Garnett Ave facility was closed to the public on July 20, so a full electrical upgrade could be carried out. The work had been previously scheduled as part of the Hamilton City Council’s ongoing maintenance programme, but was delayed due to the Covid-19 lockdown. The complex, which underwent a $10.8 million upgrade in 2018, first opened to the public in 1976.
