If there are two words to describe the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s incoming music director, Gustavo Gimeno, they are laser intensity. Gimeno was in Toronto on Wednesday to introduce the orchestra’s 2020-21 season, his first as music director. It is heartening to see an assured presence of Canadian music and eclecticism as a season opener. Yo-Yo Ma, back with the TSO for the first time in six years, will help close the season in June 2021. But there are less common treats coming, too, including a performance on Feb. 25, 2021 of Giuseppe Verdi’s opera “Rigoletto,” adapted for a concert stage by Toronto director Joel Ivany.
