Born into money to a rich landlord’s family in Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan) in 1967, Singh took over Dera Sacha Sauda in 1990. Dera Sacha Sauda has maintained that its followers keeps it going.Singh is not a traditional godman. From his sermons being “mesmerising” to “he understands us from within”—all types of logic was given to explain Rockstar Baba’s popularity. This dera is the only one which asked its followers to vote for Congress in 2007 elections. However, after Captain Amarinder Singh lost the elections, dera head had to bear the consequences with SADBJP government assuming power.Singh then made amends and is openly supporting the ruling combine.
