Guan Eng denies using schools for politics

GEORGE TOWN: Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng brushed aside claims by Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon that he had used schools as a platform for politics. Lim said he had merely pleaded to the federal government for more allocations for Chinese vernacular schools in the state. Lim said most of these Chinese vernacular schools were short of funds so the state had to give extra funding to the schools. "And when the state do so, we have to go to the schools to check out the condition so that the necessary funds can be disbursed. Chong had recently said that Lim should know why he faced problems entering schools, adding that the chief minister had used school functions to speak about politics and to criticise the federal government.
