The government's growth forecast of 6.75 per cent this year is higher than the 6.5 per cent that the Central Statistics Office (CSO) forecast earlier this month. But several economists remained sceptical of the growth forecast for this fiscal. Added Pronab Sen, a former chairman of the National Statistical Commission: "A near 7 per cent growth next year may still be possible.... Subramanian warned that oil prices remained a big cause for concern. "For every $10 increase in the price of crude oil, we could see a shaving off of growth by 0.2 per cent... we had earlier thought crude prices could not go up beyond $55 a barrel."
