Our Special CorrespondentThe Hindu Hostel has been shut for repairs since 2015College Street: Presidency University has promised to do in a few months what it couldn't in more than two years - complete Eden Hindu Hostel repairs by July 15. If things go according to plan the hostel will reopen in August when the first-year classes start, a university official said. The 131-year-old hostel, adjacent to the institute's College Street campus, was shut down for repairs on July 29, 2015, and 150 students were shifted to a rented accommodation in New Town. The university has convened a meeting of the project development committee next week, a university official said. Although the state government pays for the New Town accommodation, students living there want to return to the hostel.
