A perception had set in that he was planning to mobilise anti-BJP parties under his leadership instead of Rahul Gandhi. But top sources said the Nationalist Congress Party chief was working in tandem with the Congress and there was no competition at this stage. Sources said Pawar's main intention was to remove the confusion about his commitment amid speculation about an understanding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pawar now wants to come out of that shadow and send out a clear message about his political alignment, the sources added. The Congress and NCP are now working towards a plan to topple the Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra in a tacit understanding with the Shiv Sena.
