Crackdown: The Government is taking action to stamp out confusing messaging on scamsThe Government is finally taking action to stamp out confusing messaging on scams, Money Mail reveals. Until now, the police, banks, insurance providers and fraud charities have had their own strategies and messaging to warn households. Officials have admitted this has caused 'confusion' about what to do when people fall victim to scams. Last May, the official Fraud Strategy warned: 'People do not always protect themselves and reporting rates remain low.' From February 12, government departments and businesses will have to unite behind 'clear, technically accurate and timely messaging' on how people can protect themselves from scams and report an incident when it happens.
