Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, on Thursday, February 23, downplayed reports claiming he was positioning himself as the next Mt Kenya kingpin. He noted that he will convene a meeting with Mount Kenya leaders in Naivasha to discuss the region's future in matters of economy. While highlighting his economic empowerment plan for the Mount Kenya region - Gachagua stated that the government will prioritize milk farming as well as coffee and tea to maximize the profits made by farmers. His remarks came after publicised media reports insinuated that there was disquiet within the Mount Kenya region caucus of leaders. In reference to the media reports, Gachagua urged his supporters to ignore misinformation peddled in the various outlets in what he described as a deliberate move to malign him.
