University of Otago religion programme head Dr John Shaver is leading a research project involving 6000 people. PHOTO: SUPPLIEDA groundbreaking multidisciplinary research project involving 6000 people in different parts of the world to shed light on how religion affects family size and child health, has received a multimillion-dollar grant. University of Otago religion programme head Dr John Shaver is co-leading the project with Otago Research Fellow Dr Joseph Watts. "What we don’t know yet is whether shared child care among co-religionists may help to mitigate the costs of high fertility, positively affecting both fertility and child health. "I'm delighted Dr Shaver and his project-partners have gained such a significant grant with a truly global scope."
