LINGAYEN,Pangasinan: Police are investigating the gruesome murder on Friday of an engineer-private contractor of several government projects who once served as barangay chairman of San Carlos City. Fidel Junio, said an unidentified gunman shot Benjamin Benjie Saringan, a native of San Carlos City, while the construction firm he headed on Ramos Street West in Brgy. Saringan, who also served for six years as barangay chairman in a village in San Carlos City was declared dead at the Jesus Nazareth General Hospital. He also said that witnesses have already identified the gunman and his companion who went inside the establishment during the incident. The Department of Interior and Local Government had awarded Saringan as one of the Outstanding Public Officials in Pangasinan several times while he was serving as village chairman in San Carlos City.
