Riding on a good start and a strong finish, Alab Pilipinas seized its breakthrough win with a 78-61 rout of Formosa Dreamers in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) Season 8 on Saturday at the Changhua County Stadium in Taiwan. Alab posted an early 15-point lead then went on a decisive run in the third quarter to score its first victory following a three-game losing skid at start of the season. World Import Reggie Okosa pumped in a huge double-double of 19 points and 19 rebounds in the absence of fellow reinforcement Ivan Johnson. Alab banked on height advantage under the basket early to snag a 29-14 lead in the second period. Okosa then went for a two-handed putback slam on Oping Sumalinog’s miss to give Alab a comfortable 68-51 cushion, practically sealing the maiden victory.
