And still, when it came time for Donald Trump to hand out praise, instead he singled out Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automotive. While it hasn't even been a year since he started the job, Hackett already is at a crucial moment in his tenure as Ford's chief. And in China, Ford's car sales are stalling after an initial boost from its billions of dollars of investments in the market dating back to 2006. Failure to innovate fast enough is one of the big things that got Hackett's predecessor, Mark Fields, broomed last May as Ford's CEO, making way for Hackett.
