(Reuters) - Tim Cahill led the way as a host of Socceroos paid tribute to the contribution coach Ange Postecoglou made to Australian football after his abrupt resignation as coach of the national team seven months before the World Cup. Postecoglou's determination to prove to the world that Australians could play decent football clearly rubbed off on his players. "The foundations he has laid down for Australian football will forever be remembered when we look back at when our game changed for the better in our country." Other players that Postecoglou brought into international football, such as midfielders Aaron Mooy and Massimo Luongo, took to social media to thank their former coach for believing in them. "His saying that will stay with me forever is 'NEVER TAKE A BACKWARDS STEP'," Cahill concluded.
