The past six months have been somewhat unstable along the racial spectrum, as education-related issues had a ripple effect on national prosperity. We Malaysians are losing our way in terms of communication, tolerance and respect - values that used to be internalised throughout society. Another cog towards establishing national identity would be to eradicate the pre-existing paranoia on race-based supremacy and replacing them with the ideas of joint efforts and initiatives, particularly along the socioeconomic standpoint. Succumbing to the agenda of select national figures or political groups without recognising the room for national unity and togetherness is definitely a drawback, if we aim to prosper as a modern country with reputable mindsets.
