On Sunday, the Flames were on their longest non-China-trip flight of the year, travelling more than 4,305 nautical kilometres from Vancouver to Tampa. That’s a five hour and 17 minute flight, with the time zone difference ensuring the Flames would leave B.C. “I don’t know, we travel pretty nice, we’re lucky,” said Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk. Still, the Flames’ travel schedule in February is a challenge, regardless of what sort of flight you take or how fancy your hotels are. “I think you’ve just got to get used to it a little bit,” said Flames winger Michael Frolik.
