The city's fire chief says a west Winnipeg home is a "complete loss" following a fire Sunday. Calls about the blaze at 47 Hamilton Meadows Drive started coming in around 3 p.m., and Chief John Lane says the home's attached garage was fully aflame when crews arrived. In all, 11 units worked to fight the fire, including a ladder truck, which doused the flames from the air and kept then from spreading to two neighbouring houses. Crews used a ladder truck to prevent the fire from spreading to two neighbouring homes. He says fighting fires on cold days is taxing on firefighters and their equipment.
