Facebook: Bangladesh sought information on 371 users in first half of 2020


In response to the government's requests, Facebook provided some data in 44% of the cases. According to the social media giant, the number of requests the Bangladesh government has made seeking information on Facebook users has increased. In the second half of 2019, the government sought information on 298 users through 179 requests and Facebook responded in 45% of the requests. The country sought information on 106,114 users or accounts through those requests and Facebook responded in 88% of these cases. Regarding the requests for account or user information, Facebook states: “Facebook responds to government requests for data in accordance with applicable law and our terms of service.
