Aside from Covid-19, Duque said the DoH was also on the lookout for other diseases that could spread among the evacuees, such as leptospirosis and diarrhea. According to Duque, as much as possible, only one family must occupy a classroom or tent in the designated evacuation sites. Duque recommended that those belonging to the vulnerable population, such as the elderly and pregnant, be isolated. Interior Secretary Eduardo Año reported that more than 12,000 evacuation centers had been activated. As of Thursday, a total of 402,820 Covid-19 cases has been recorded in the Philippines, of whom 362,417 have recovered and 7,721 died.
