As many as 39 people died as Typhoon “Ulysses” roared across Luzon on Thursday. NDRRMC spokesman Mark Timbal said the agency was still consolidating data on the number of dead and missing. NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said 44,194 families or 170,561 individuals were affected by affected by Ulysses, and 19,982 of the families (74,421 people) were staying in 825 evacuation centers. The Department of Agriculture on Friday initially placed agriculture damage and losses from Ulysses at P969.8 million. It said the typhoon affected 40,519 farmers and 51,241 hectares of agricultural land, with the volume of production loss reaching 58,897 metric tons.
