Emergency services at the scene of a serious crash at Lehmans Rd, near Fernside in North Canterbury, on Tuesday afternoon. A young boy has died and his father is critically injured in hospital after a fiery crash in North Canterbury. Emergency services were called to the crash at Lehmans Rd near Fernside, close to Rangiora, about 4.17pm on Tuesday. A manager from the nearby Rangiora Eco Holiday Park said residents heard a loud bang and then plumes of smoke rising from the scene before emergency services arrived shortly before 4.30pm. The police serious crash unit (SCU) is investigating.
