Embu Level 5 Teaching and Referral Hospital is facing a crisis after casual workers, mostly cleaners, boycotted work over five months’ salary nonpayment. The hospital has for the last three months been experiencing another crisis due to the nationwide strike by nurses, who were demanding the implementation of their CBA. The hospital poses a health risk with highly infectious waste left uncollected. The workers said they had no alternative but to go on strike to attract the attention of their employer and seek a solution to their problem. The workers said they will only resume duties when their salaries are paid.
