Finally, it applied the UK corporation tax rate of 19% to those profits to give an indication of how much they might have been expected to cough up. It meant the world’s richest company, worth £1.5trillion, avoided an estimated UK tax bill of £517million. Accounts for Google UK showed it paid £58.9million UK corporation tax in 2019. Today’s report alleges Alphabet avoided £452million in UK taxes in 2019 as a result.
