A view from the Peka Peka overbridge shows long lines of northbound traffic on SH1 on the Kāpiti Coast. Holiday traffic was crawling on State Highway 1 on the Kāpiti Coast on Good Friday, with delays of up to an hour for motorists. Traffic is expected to be heavy in the area again tomorrow, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, NZTA predicts. Holiday travellers are being advised to check NZTA’s easter weekend journey planner, which is based on travel patterns from previous years.
