Ms Phanidchanok suggested the EC should use this case to establish clearer guidelines for future elections, placing greater weight on "voter intent." Several ballots ruled invalid for marks extending beyond the voting box later had their status reversed after public members at polling stations jointly protested and successfully demanded a recount.
