Matt McNeill, of Lime, talks up the new craze at the launch of the e-scooters in Dunedin in January. A "courtesy zone" for e-scooter users, which will limit speeds to 15kmh, will be trialled in Dunedin over the next six months. The Dunedin City Council debated whether to trial a courtesy zone, where riders would be required to reduce their speed, at a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. Introducing the courtesy zone along the city's major shopping precinct was "asking for behavioural change". The Dunedin trial is expected to cost about $5000, including signage, markings, messaging and education.
