This gravel pit on the side of the Kopu Hikuai Rd was the scene of the drama when Pierre Anglem rammed a police car and the constable responded by opening fire on him. Weetman Norris knocked on the door and told the woman who answered that she was looking for her Aunty Sue. As the constable was arresting Weetman-Norris, Anglem made a U-turn and drove straight at him. The constable was unable to give chase as his car was too badly damaged. An angry Anglem told her he would slit her throat, and if she did not give him the petrol he would pour petrol over her and set her alight.
