MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte promoted his son-in-law’s brother to Agriculture undersecretary, a document released by Malacañang on Thursday showed. The president signed the appointment paper of Waldo Carpio on Tuesday. Carpio is the brother of Duterte’s son-in-law Manases “Mans” Carpio, the husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. Carpio’s appointment as undersecretary came a year after he was named as an assistant secretary of the Department of Agriculture. The president stood as one of the principal sponsors during the wedding of Waldo and Regine Carpio.
