When a Dunedin teen crashed a car, he left his unconscious friend for dead and texted other mates, a court has heard. They turned off Princes St onto Hope St and travelled through two give-way intersections without slowing down. Finally, where Hope St meets Stafford St, Richards met a ute, the front of which hit the back right passenger side of the Ford Laser. Meanwhile the driver of the ute performed CPR on Ms Strange, but she was pronounced dead at 2.57am. Mr Sardiello had minor injuries to his neck and chest and Ms Hurring also sustained some discomfort.
