Dr M to revive Look East policy at conference in Japan - Nation

LANGKAWI: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad plans to reignite the Look East Policy that he introduced back in the 1980s when he speaks at a conference in Japan in mid-June. He will be speaking at the 24th International Conference on the Future of Asia in Japan, to be held on June 11 and 12. Confirming to the media here that he will be going to Japan for the annual conference organised by Nikkei-Shimbun, he hoped his proposed trip would also strengthen the relationship between Malaysia and Japan. "(This year) I want to speak a little bit more on the Look East policy,” he said, after attending a closed-door meeting with the Pakatan Harapan Langkawi members, here. The proposed Japan trip next week will be the first official foreign engagement for Dr Mahathir since being appointed as the 7th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
