Parents worried about their children viewing inappropriate content on the Internet may want to try YouTube Kids, an app from Google that aims at providing a safe place to view child-friendly videos.The app works on both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets and some televisions. It allows parents to choose from a variety of channels that offer content suitable for children on topics such as art, music, games, learning and handicrafts.Each channel or topic can be individually selected by parents and profiles for up to eight children can be created. Videos and channels can be blocked and it's also possible to turn off the search function to contain kids' access to content.The app also includes a timer and a way to report videos that parents feel shouldn't be in the app. Google says it uses a mixture of filters, user feedback and human reviewers to keep the videos family friendly.The app is available from Google Play and Apple's App Store .
