Doc lease needed before Treble Cone work

Bridget LegnavskyCardrona Alpine Resort is hoping to start upgrading snowmaking infrastructure at Treble Cone skifield as early as next month but it still has to sign a Department of Conservation lease before it can take possession. On Friday the Commerce Commission granted Cardrona Alpine Resort Ltd clearance to acquire either the shares of Treble Cone Investments Ltd or the assets it uses to operate the Treble Cone skifield. Yesterday Cardrona general manager Bridget Legnavsky said she was ‘‘super stoked’’ to get approval from the commerce commission and they were still working through the Doc lease (Treble Cone skifield sits on public conservation land). Ms Legnavsky said she believed negotiating the lease was more a procedural matter, she did not expect any problems and she was hoping the handover would occur some time in January. ‘‘We get there are differences and we want to be able to celebrate those.’’kerrie.waterworth@odt.co.nz
